Crooked

by VI Keeland and Penelope Ward

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This year I have vowed to read more types of romance novels, and so this was my first mafia romance and my first bodyguard romance. I was not disappointed! Keeland and Ward write in a way that is so addicting I couldn’t put the book down. Literally— at one point I was putting on makeup and got a little bit on the book because I couldn’t stop reading (lol).

Wes the former cop is assigned to Juliette, daughter of a prominent mafia figures personal detail, despite Juliette’s desires to live a life separate from her father’s business.Juliette’s dad makes it clear to Wes from the beginning: NO ROMANCE WITH JULIETTE. And this is the mafia so, the stakes for disobeying are inherently high! Naturally, temptation occurs!

This book is funny, suspenseful, spicy, and heartfelt. One of my favorite scenes happens at the beginning of the book when Wes insists on accompanying Juliette to her book club. The book they are reading is non other than a spicy bodyguard romance. This is so funny and also immediately puts the idea in Wes and Juliette’s heads of getting together.

This is also a book about identity and family. It’s a quick, steamy read and it’s out today!!! Audio, paperback, and ebook. Thanks so much to VI Keeland, Penelope Ward, and Hambrighr PR for the ARC!
